Love Island
Love Island is one of the most popular TV series for young people today and it is really interesting to look into how these reality TV stars take advantage of social media once they leave the island. It started on the 12th June and stars who got kicked out just after a week now have 1 million followers plus on Instagram, promoting everything under the sun from teeth whitening strips to watches to clothing brands, even offering discount codes for certain products. Jess has been promoting Diamond Whites black toothpaste and even offers her own 30% off discount code, also she has been doing meet and greets and the massively popular brand Missguided in their London store. Jessica Rose got voted off the show within the first week and now a few weeks later her Instagram (@jessica_rose_uk) has just hit 1 million followers, the most anyone has at this point but the show hasn’t ended yet! Whilst her boyfriend (@domlever) from the show only has 519k followers but did leave the villa a few weeks later. Many of the contestants still in the show already have people running their social media for them.
Really knowing how to utilize your social media can do wonders for earning money and creating a recognisable brand. These people have really made a good use of their social media and used it to promote lots of companies products to their followers. It may appear that these unknown people have their 15 minutes of fame and are now trying to get some money out of it, but some of the worlds biggest celebrities have made millions this same way. The Kardashians are some of the most famous people in the world and regularly promote products on their social media and its been rumored that they can earn up to $4,000 for a single tweet.
Social Media is free, mostly easy to use and it can massively help boast and create a brand for the right products. TV series such as Love Island really show you how easy it can be to use social media and how it is being leveraged to commercial advantage.
